  • Bring an apron and small hand towel, if you are worried about dirtying your clothes. You can bring your stencils or blocks for adding texture.

    Otherwise, all the material will be made available i.e. clay, sculpting tools, plastic bowls, etc.

    For carving and stamping, you can bring your own stamps, blocks, or carved designs.

    Note: Firing of objects (at least 5inches in width and length) could be done at an additional cost of PKR 300/- per piece. Both dried & fired objects can be picked up after 2-3 weeks From IVS campus.

    If you're new to this fascinating art form, let’s learn about the wonders of geodes. Geodes are rocks that are found in volcano beds and are known for their stunning crystal formations. These crystals are visible when the rock is sliced open and are a result of various mineral deposits and light reflections. It's no wonder that geodes have inspired the art world and given birth to the mesmerizing Geode Resin Art.

    While real geodes are hard to come by and quite expensive, the art world has found an alternative. By using epoxy resin along with glitters, decorative gems, stones, glass, paints, and other mixed-media, artists can create the same mesmerizing effects of light, colors, shine, and silkiness in texture. This technique has taken the art world by storm and has become one of the top trending art forms, used to create decorative as well as 3D effects to arts, crafts, and paintings.

    If you're interested in learning the basic techniques of geode resin, then you're in luck! This course will teach you how to add textures on canvas using various low-cost and everyday materials. Creative expression through geode abstract resin is not only limitless, but it's also extremely therapeutic. This course will give you a taste of both, so come and join us on this artistic journey!

  • The Resin Art Geode 2-Day Workshop is designed to teach participants the techniques and skills needed to create stunning geode-inspired resin artwork. Attendees can expect to master resin art fundamentals, geode-specific methods, and various creative techniques of creating name coasters, bookmarks and keychains. Ultimately, it helps participants express their creativity and gain confidence in working with resin, whether for personal satisfaction or professional purpose.

    Sumaira Tazeen is an experienced visual artist and artist educator, specializing in contemporary miniature painting. A multidisciplinary artist, she has exhibited at renowned international galleries and museums and has received prestigious awards and medals in visual arts. With strong management and leadership skills, Sumaira is also an expert in curriculum development.

    From 2005 to 2012, Sumaira served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Miniature Painting at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in Karachi. She continues to inspire the next generation of artists in Canada by leading workshops and courses at museums, art galleries, and universities. Known for her humble, creative approach, she brings a positive and energetic presence to her work and teaching.

    This workshop will provide an in-depth exploration of Chiaroscuro, the artistic technique used to create the illusion of depth and volume through the use of light and shadow. Participants will learn about the historical development of chiaroscuro, its role in fine arts, and how to apply it in their own work. By the end of the day, students will have gained both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to incorporate chiaroscuro into their own creative endeavors.

    -Contemporary uses of chiaroscuro in photography, film, and digital arts.

    D-2: The Science and Techniques of Chiaroscuro

    • Basic principles: Light, shadow, and gradation of tones.

    Printmaking is not understood by a lot of people in Pakistan. And even if you do, you won’t get many chances to learn the techniques, practice and create your own prints. Considering this, IVS-CEP started conducting on workshops of printmaking since 2022 for both children & adults. Until now we are focusing on dry point techniques where taxey glass has edge with the sharp nail to create images.

    For the first time, the instructor is offering a four-day workshop on linocut and collagraph techniques for printmaking..

  • Are you tired of the same old painting and drawing techniques? Want to try something new and exciting? Look no further than the world of printmaking! Here's the catch though – printmaking is often misunderstood and overlooked in Pakistan. But fear not! IVS-CEP is here to save the day with their Printmaking Reloaded workshop series.

    Led by the talented Abdul, who has been a part of the IVS Printmaking Department since 2000, Printmaking Reloaded is a three-day workshop that will teach you the ins and outs of various printmaking techniques. Abdul's passion for printmaking shines through in his work, which has been showcased in group exhibitions across Pakistan, China, and Canada. He even had his first solo exhibition in Karachi in 2018!

  • In this workshop, participants will learn about the various techniques and how to transfer the design onto paper using a press or by hand. Participants gain hands-on experience in designing, carving, linoleum blocks, printing and also learn textured collagraph plates using a variety of materials such as cardboard, fabric, and found objects.

    These workshops provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of both linocut and collagraph printmaking, inking methods & allowing them to experiment with different materials, techniques, and creative approaches.

    Following Tools & Materials Required:

    Lino cut sheets

    Carving tools & cardboard

    Any photo/design that participants want to use as a reference or an element in their selected design

  • The workshop is open for all (age 14 and above). No prior experience of printmaking, drawing or art is required. You are requested to bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the workshop.

    - Any photo/design that participants want to use as a reference or an element in their selected design
    - All material can be purchased From IVS stationery shop
    - Material costs are not included in the workshop fee.

  • No previous art or design experience is necessary.
