Welcome to the fascinating world of Kashf-e-Naqsh! If you're a fan of the intricate Naqqashi patterns that adorn Persian and Turkish manuscripts, then you've come to the right place. These signature blue, turquoise, white, and gold geometric designs have been captivating people for centuries, especially on old manuscripts like the Quran.
Believe it or not, this art form dates back to the 13th century and has its origins in Persia. Later on, the Ottoman Empire put its own spin on things, resulting in Turkish-influenced designs.
But that's not all - the Art of Islamic Illumination is also about illumination in the literal sense of the word. This decorative painting technique uses gold highlights to bring out the beauty of traditionally Arabesque and floral motifs. The result is a stunning representation of divine forms through natural elements, with a basis in balance and symmetry.
Now, if you're ready to dive into this amazing art form, this course is perfect for you! We'll start by giving you a historical context for Kashf-e-Naqsh, so you'll understand the significance of the different patterns.
Then, we'll focus on the practice of a few key patterns and designs. You'll get to choose a design, make your own paper, trace the pattern, and add your own embellishments. We'll even introduce you to the pristine symmetrical design of Shamsa, also known as the Sun-burst pattern. This pattern represents the divinity or unity of all forces, and different variations are formed through connecting symmetrical lines and arcs.
So, what are you waiting for? Get ready to unlock your inner artist and create something truly beautiful with the Art of Islamic Illumination!
-
-
Our course is open to anyone who is eager to learn and appreciates the beauty of Islamic art.
Don't worry if you're a beginner and have no prior experience or knowledge. All you need is a willingness to learn and patience! We'll guide you through the journey of creating stunning works of art using traditional techniques.

Course Description:
Provide general information about the course, what the course is about, what activities are included in the course, etc.
No other jargon has been used as much in recent times as ‘entrepreneurship’- for the right reasons, certainly!
This course will approach entrepreneurship through the experiential learning methodology,as a mindset, an attitude, and a behaviour to undertake value-creating initiatives in situations with a certain level of uncertainty that is expected to lead to the creation of a new business entity, be it a new start-up or the launch of a new product or service within an existing business. Keeping a keen focus on the students’ development of both hard and soft entrepreneurial skills
The discussion will predominantly revolve around the cognitive part of the entrepreneurship process, which will allow the students to understand and challenge the very ‘logic’ of how expert entrepreneurs usually make decisions as opposed to a stereotypical manager working under a very different scheme of things.
Given the nature of the subject, this course will also ensure a substantial exposure to the living practice of entrepreneurship through a hypothetical start-up idea pitch and business model to a jury of successful entrepreneurs and a guest speaker session that will be online. In short, this course promises a blend of fun and learning.

Whether you're a seasoned designer or a newbie, this course will help you meet your design goals and take your creativity to the next level.

June 16th, 2025
12 sessions | 24 hours | Mon & Fri | 5.30 pm-7.30 pm
Workshop Fee: PKR 28,000/-
Instructor: Naveed Sadiq
-
Welcome to the exciting world of Funn-e-Mussawari or miniature paintin! Our series of workshops will take you on a journey through the diverse indigenous schools of this fascinating discipline, specifically Indo-Persian painting. We'll be exploring the roots of miniature painting and how it has evolved over time.
Our guide on this journey is none other than Sadiq, a master in the field who emphasizes deep investigation of the processes, concepts, and form within the realm of Funn-e-Mussawari. Sadiq's teaching draws inspiration from Mughal pedagogical models and a desire to establish relevance to contemporary teaching styles.
But this workshop is not just about drawing on a surface! We'll be diving deep into the process of observing, sensing, and reconnecting with yourself and your surroundings. From preparing the Wasli paper surface to extracting pigments from natural sources, we'll explore the significance of sacred geometry and how it underlies the composition of these beautiful paintings.
It's important to approach each step with care and to contemplate and meditate on the materials and the act of creating. This cerebral, spiritual, and visual experience will culminate in the form of a stunning painting that you'll be proud to display.
-
The series comprises of three workshops, each focussing on an element or “Usloob”, namely:
Siyah Qalam (Siyah = black & Qalam = brush): The name says it all! This workshop focuses on the use of black brush strokes to create stunning art pieces. But did you know that the black color is created through a natural process? By burning a lamp under a terracotta utensil, the soot deposits finest carbon on the inside centre and sides of the utensil. This carbon is then collected with a delicate feather and mixed with gum of Keekar (Arabic gum) to create the perfect black color for your artwork.
Neem Rung (Neem = Partial & Rung = Colour): This workshop is all about using one or two colors to create beautiful and unique drawings. The name "neem" refers to the partial or half use of color, which allows you to create a range of stunning shades and hues. With just one or two colors, you can create a masterpiece that is sure to impress.
Gud Rang (Gud = Opaque & Rang = colour): Get ready to explore the full range of colors in this workshop! "Gud" means opaque in Urdu, which is perfect for creating vibrant and bold art pieces. With a wide range of colors to choose from, you can let your creativity run wild and create something truly unique. From bright and bold to soft and subtle, the possibilities are endless with Gud Rang.
Are you ready for a journey through the vibrant and mesmerizing world of Mughal and Persian painting styles? Because we sure are! In these workshops, we'll be giving you a taste of the unique techniques and themes that make these styles so special.
And the best part? You get to choose which style speaks to you the most and create your very own masterpiece! So, buckle up and get ready to unleash your inner artist. And don't worry, we'll be announcing the schedule for the second and third workshops soon enough.
-
Whether you're a seasoned artist or a total newbie, this is the perfect opportunity to explore this beautiful art form in a process-oriented and logical way. And the best part? You don't need any formal art education or practice to get started - all you need is a willingness to learn and a healthy dose of curiosity!
We'll take you on a journey through the rich history and techniques of Indo-Persian painting, from its early origins to the modern day. You'll learn all about the intricate patterns, vibrant colors, and mesmerizing details that make this art form so unique and captivating.
-
Participants will be provided sea-shell containers to keep water and colour, a set of reference picture, 1 A3 Cartridge sheet, lamp black colour and gum Arabic.

But don't be fooled – there's a whole lot of creativity even in the simplest of lines! We'll then move on to drawing still-life objects, because who doesn't love adding a bit of life to their art?
But wait, there's more! We'll also cover gesture drawing, because sometimes it's all about capturing the essence of a subject rather than the details. And if you've ever wanted to learn how to draw a face, then you're in luck! We'll be introducing you to the basics of portraiture too.
Now, we can't forget about the tools of the trade – dry and wet media. We'll explore the strengths and techniques of each medium, giving you an overview of their applications. By the end of this course, you'll not only have a better understanding of art but also the skills to create your own masterpieces.
-
By participating in the course, you will:
Let's start with the basics: drawing from observation means looking at something and drawing it as accurately as possible. So, grab a pencil and a piece of paper and start drawing objects around you, paying attention to their proportions and angles.
Don't worry if your drawings don't look perfect at first! Getting proportions and angles right takes practice, but the more you draw, the better you'll get.
Now, let's talk about mixed media! You'll get to work with different materials like charcoal, pastels, watercolours, acrylics, and oil. Each medium has its own unique properties, so it's important to experiment with them to see what works best for you.
Once you've chosen your medium, it's time to practice application techniques! This includes color blending, strokes, washes, adding texture, and more. Play around with different techniques to see what effects you can create.
Finally, it's time to create your own artwork! You'll get to create an interpretation of a classic piece of art (like the Mona Lisa or Starry Night), as well as a piece that reflects your own original thought and observation. Have fun with it and don't be afraid to get creative!
-
This course is perfect for anyone who has dabbled in a bit of drawing and painting and wants to go beyond, learn more, get critique and help to go one notch up.
People looking for a break From their routines or stress busters will also find this course particularly soothing and fun.
